Arithmetic Progression

An arithmetic progression is a sequence of numbers such that the difference between consecutive terms is constant. If the initial term of an artihmetic progression is \(a_1\) and the common difference of succesive members is \(d\), the nth term of the sequnce \((a_n\) is given by

\[a_n = a_1 + (n-1)d\]

The sum of the members of a finite arithmetic progression is called an arithmetic series.
